@mcscx @andstatus Just to add a little additional context. I'm leveraging the native UI framework for #SailfishOS which brings the background "ambiance" through to the application. So I'm not doing anything fancy there other than just making sure elements are properly spaced and aligned etc. Not sure how complex that gets in the Android world.

An update has been posted for !circuitry on #SailfishOS which fixes a few critical bugs that were reported. You can download the latest RPM from https://code.monkeystew.net/thrrgilag/circuitry-sfos/releases

Still no project for a #sailfishos #jabber client out there? :o

I think it's about time to let a few brave souls take my #sailfishos app for a spin. A GNU social client called circuitry. You can find the RPM and source code at https://code.monkeystew.net/thrrgilag/circuitry-sfos/releases I also setup a group named !circuitry for discussions. Those who do try it let me know and provide feedback. The next milestone I hope to reach will be to get this up on OpenRepos and perhaps ultimately in the Jolla store when it reaches a stable state.

Ich mochte Google. Ehrlich.

Well then... looks like i need to slowly go back to #Android from #SailfishOS because there is nowhere a fully working #xmpp client and i don't get happy with the basic integration, working for simple messages between clients, without filetranspher, without muc, without encryption so far. ....so sad :'(

Testing #SailfishOS on the #OneplusOne again \o/ I am curious what #Jabber / #XMPP solution the diaspora* people use?

Also i was unable to bring the basic XMPP client from #sfos 2.x to work?

How to use offline maps on your jolla - #libosmscout

Most of the time I don't need mobile web on my #smartphone. To shorten the time online even more, I wanted to use #offline #maps on my #jolla.

On Jolla:
At first you have to install the SailfishOS #app #osmscout from the jolla marketplace. There you have to touch on the burger menu and got to 'Map settings'. Disable 'Enable online maps' and enable 'Enable offline map'.

After that we are now ready to start with our preparation of offline maps on our pc.

On PC:[l]
git clone https://github.com/Framstag/libosmscout.gitcd libosmscoutmkdir -p buildcd buildcmake ..make -jnproc

[l]
Download your maps on: http://download.geofabrik.de/ Put your .osm.pbf file in maps/ (in maps/ there have to be build.sh and some other files and dirs) and go there by cd mapsHere an example for creating the db for #nordrheinwestfalen:../build/Import/Import --typefile ../stylesheets/map.ost --destinationDirectory nrw nordrhein-westfalen-latest.osm.pbf 'nrw' is the dir 'maps/nrw/'. You have to create the folder at first. After everything is finished you can create a zip file for the whole db../zipDB.sh nrwthen you unzip it and copy all of the files (not the folder, but its content) to your jolla in the directory ~/Documents/Maps

On Jolla
After you copied everything you have to restart your jolla and then turn all internet connections (mobile and wifi) off. Then OSMScout should show you your tiles you downloaded.

Sometimes it helps, if you enable online maps at first in OSMScout and then you can set your view on the tile you also have offline. Then you disable online maps and try to go to the edges of your offline map.

So I hope it helps some people, who want to use maps offline on jolla. If you have any questions about this, maybe I can't help, because I am not an expert on this. It just worked for me, so I wanted to spread the word about it. If there's something wrong with this tutorial, please feel free to copy it and correct it. I will then delete the post or link the correction in the comments.

PS: I don't like my #jolla. #SailfishOS has a great concept and the hardware is great, but doesn't work well for my daily business. Copy&Paste breaks often, it can't play opus-files and the music player breaks without any reason. Also the updates don't fix any of those issues. I will get myself an android again. I hope I can find a good #device that is supported by #replicant. But for now I have to stick with my jolla and make the best out of it.

Limited batch of Jolla C now available in Russia | Jolla Blog

We now have some good news for our Russian developer and fan community members! As mentioned earlier in the Sailfish Community Device Program availability, we promised to work on getting the program and Jolla C available also for other key markets, and the Russian community is next in line.

I've started work in earnest on a couple of apps for #SailfishOS. Two social network client apps, a port of Renamed Todo, and one other that is in the planning stages. All of these are or will be open source projects and code will be published on my site.

I've been using #SailfishOS on my Nexus 5 for a solid week now and overall I'm pretty happy with it. I think it's finally at a state I can (and have been for the last week) use it as my primary phone.

My first attempt to write a @Jolla #SailfishOS Application for Chennai Metro Rail. This is an offline app.
  • Get the ticket fare from one station to another.
  • Find at which stop your destinations is.
I will release the source code under a #FreeSoftware license as soon as possible and share the link here as comment. Next step, for me is to make sure the app is available through Jolla Store and Openrepos.net

The 2nd ever official #SailfishOS #smartphone Intex Aqua Fish, Full specs here
- hardware - connectivity - supported mobile networks - price, launch, availability

The smartphone is hitting the markets in India in the coming months, and maybe globally later. If this will be a success after three delays in the launch will probably be dependent on the final prize tag. Sailfish OS 2.0.2 Aurajoki user interface for this phone will include Super Apps (earlier referred as "Partner Space"), bringing #Gaana and #Snapdeal marketplaces right next to the home screen. Their location on the UI is excellent for #eCommerce, but will having these apps included lower the price of the device enough? Customers in #India are price wise in general, but having for example music and cricket content easily available might not be a bad idea for these markets either. Interesting tryout for a new #mCommerce business model. (pic by #Intex)
